We are Tesler Lab
A design and technology studio focused on one thing: simplifying complexity so your products are easier to use and to sell.
The people behind it
Design, product and development work together on every project. The same people who listen to you in the first meeting are the ones who design and build, so decisions get made fast and nothing is lost along the way.
An economist specialised in data, with over 10 years helping organisations build business intelligence solutions. He is also director of Okun Data, a business intelligence consultancy, and has a presence in national media such as Infobae, TN, La Nación and El Cronista.
He directed Infodash, a non-profit that made public information easier to reach through interactive dashboards.
A consultant in business analysis and business intelligence. He specialises in turning business needs into concrete solutions and in supporting the technical teams that build them.
He also runs Almen Studio, a software studio that builds systems fitted to how a company actually works rather than making the client adapt to a generic product, and stays on the project from discovery through to delivery.
Where we come from
Tesler Lab was born out of an observation that repeated itself across almost every industry: solid organisations, with well-built products and capable teams, whose digital presence was nowhere near what the company actually was.
It was rarely a matter of resources. The site and the brand had been left behind out of unfamiliarity or lack of priority, so they communicated far less than the business could back up, and that gap was paid for in customers who left before learning what the company was truly worth.
That is where the line we introduce ourselves with comes from, we help you improve how you are seen, and it points to an alignment: what a company shows must match what it does, because once both sides meet the work of selling becomes far shorter.
Today we work across three fronts under one roof, web design that converts, coherent brand identity and prototypes that validate before building, and that closeness lets a company's brand and its product interface be designed with the same criteria, with no translation in between.
Tesler's Law
Our name is no coincidence. Larry Tesler was a computer scientist and a pioneer of user interfaces. He formulated a principle that guides everything we do:
"Every application has an inherent amount of irreducible complexity. The only question is: who will have to deal with it?"
Larry Tesler
This means that a system's complexity never really disappears and always ends up absorbed by someone, either by the user who suffers a poor experience or by the product design that takes it on and hands back a good one.
Our job is to transfer that complexity from the user to the product. The interface is simple not because the problem is simple, but because we did the design work necessary to make it seem that way.
This philosophy applies to everything we do, whether it is a prototype, a website or a visual identity. Every design decision aims to reduce the cognitive load on the end user, even when that means more work on our side.
How we work
These four principles order every project we take on, from the first meeting to the final delivery. They are not statements: they are the rules you can hold us to later.
Full transparency
We share progress in real time, explain every design decision and maintain open communication throughout the process. If something doesn't work, we say so.
Constant iteration
Rather than waiting until the end to show results we work in short cycles where every iteration takes in real feedback, which lowers the risk and makes sure that what we deliver is what was actually needed.
Results-driven
A beautiful design that does not meet its goal is a failure, so every visual decision is tied to a concrete business metric, whether that is conversion, clarity, speed or retention.
Complete deliverables
We hand everything over organized: documentation, usage guides and assets. Your team can implement or iterate without depending on us.
